Google has a neat new Easter Egg for anyone interested in Star Wars.
When Google users search for "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away," Google will transform the browser window into a galactic theme with search results scrolling into space, just like the opening of Star Wars.
Click on the microphone button at right to hear the movie's iconic theme music, which plays as headlines and links disappear into the distance. You can pause and restart the scroll at any time, or click away to return to Google's normal search page.
Easter Eggs are common in the technology world and refer to hidden items in games, environments in Web services, and much more. They are, in essence, the hidden stuff across the Web that's only discoverable by hunting for them, similar to a traditional Easter egg.
The latest Google Easter Egg is one that has of course garnered attention in light of the highly anticipated debut of the latest Star Wars installment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, on Dec. 18.
In addition to the search Easter Egg, Google is also offering customization options on apps like Gmail so they look like either the Light or Dark side of the Force.
