Nintendo this week finally released details about its first mobile game, Miitomo, which arrives in March.

In his first public appearance as Nintendo president, Tatsumi Kimishima said the free-to-play title uses personalized Mii characters to share facts about you with friends.

Start by creating a Mii avatar, which will ask you personal questions, like what you enjoy doing on the weekend. Be careful what you say, though, because those answers are broadcast to friends on the platform to serve as "friendly communication starters."

"We are designing this communication application to enable friends to share information comfortably and securely," Nintendo said.

"You thought you knew your friends well, but they have hobbies, thoughts, and experiences that you hear from Mii for the first time," Nintendo said. "You might even find an unexpected common interest."

Last year, Nintendo had "no plans" for mobile games, but it has clearly come around: In May, late President Satoru Iwata confirmed five titles will launch by March 2017. And while many fans and investors were expecting Mario and Zelda to grace smartphone and tablet screens, Nintendo took a different route with its first mobile game.

In March, Nintendo announced a new partnership with Tokyo-based DeNA to develop mobile games and a "new multi-device membership service for consumers worldwide," while separately teasing a new game system called "NX." The company, however, has denied reports that the NX will be an Android-based system.
