Apple this week released iOS 9.1 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, which brings improvements to Live Photos and a slew of fresh emojis.

The first major update since Cupertino launched its new mobile operating system in September, iOS 9.1 adds support for the upcoming fourth-gen Apple TV, Apple Pencil, and Smart Keyboard. But most people will probably be pretty psyched about the taco, middle-finger, and 150-plus new emojis.

Unicode in June announced a new set of symbols, including 41 characters like nerd face, hot dog, popcorn, unicorn head, crab, and prayer beads. But it wasn't until Wednesday that Cupertino pushed the zodiac signs, burrito, volleyball, and table-tennis paddle and ball to its devices.

Apple also released a lineup of racially diverse characters in April, alongside its OS X and iOS betas.

Apple's iOS 9.1 comes with more than a hugging face and religious symbols, though. As iPhone Hacks reported, the update also improves stability for CarPlay, Music, Photos, Safari, and Search, as well as performance while multitasking.

Apple iPhone 6s and 6s Plus owners, meanwhile, can tap into Live Photos' intelligent senses, which now tell the software when you raise or lower your phone, stopping it from recording those moments.

The latest iOS version also fixes issues in Calendar, Game Center, and Mail, alleviates problems when zooming in apps and removing recent contacts from messages, and repairs complications with some network carriers and App Store apps. Meanwhile, a new Messages option allows users to disable photos for their contacts, and updates to the mobile OS's Live Wallpapers.
