With this week's news about the Apple Watch, rival smartwatch makers would like to remind consumers why their product is the best choice.

Google launched an Android Wear ad in the hours before Cupertino's Monday press event, and Motorola today revealed Moto Maker for Moto 360, which will let buyers create a customized timepiece.

Moto Maker first emerged in 2013 with the launch of the Moto X, and let people pick select custom colors for their smartphone. Now that's extending to Motorola's smartwatch.

"You have a style all your own. Now, you can customize a modern watch that satisfies your personal tastes and have it delivered to your doorstep," according to Motorola.

Users can choose from three case finishes (dark metal, light metal, champagne gold—to match your new MacBook Air), nine bands (leather, metal, or mono-link), and one of 11 watch faces.

"Once you get your watch, it's easy to swap faces from our collection or through Google Play," Motorola added.

If you can't quite settle on your favorite combination, the tech company offers a few ideas of its own, including "Professor Hip": Light-finish case with 22mm cognac leather band.

"It's 20 years from tenure but this Moto 360's leather band is ready to rock with any elbow patches," the website said. "It's even happy to provide notifications on the latest 17th Century Lit forums."

Rumors of a new Moto Maker tool for the smartwatch spread late last month, suggesting that users could engrave the device—a feature that does not appear on Moto Maker for Moto 360 at this time.

Introduced in March 2014, the Android Wear-based smartwatch comes with a $249.99 price tag, though additional fees are applied for the champagne-gold case (+$30) and metal 24mm mono-link band (+$50). Additional accessories can also be found just before checkout.

Motorola also suggests the fusion of light-finish casing with a champagne-gold metal band for the "On-the-Go Stylist" look: "Where 'boyfriend' meets fashion trend." Or, swap the band for the slim metal bracelet, and you've got what Motorola called an "impeccable" watch.

"It prefers simplicity and elegance in both fashion and design," the site said of "The Modernist" look. "It could fit into any design magazine—cultivated with clean lines and polished steel—but instead it's on your wrist."
