HTC and Under Armour are teaming up to integrate Under Armour's new UA Record fitness software platform in future HTC wearables and mobile devices, the two companies announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Under Armour on Tuesday unveiled its UA Record website and a first round of related apps at CES. The platform offers mobile device users health and fitness tracking capabilities that tie into the company's online community boasting some 31 million members. Apps like MapMyFitness (owned by Under Armour), MapMyRun, and MapMyRide keep users "synced with [their] fitness goals 24/7," according to Under Armour.

The athletic apparel designer's "team of designers, sports scientists, and athletes" will be working with designers and engineers from HTC's Connected Products business unit to create future products incorporating UA Record, the companies said in a joint statement.

"It's an incredibly exciting new direction for us," HTC CEO Peter Chou said in a statement. "We want our products to meet the needs of every individual—whether you're training for a personal best in your next half-marathon, or [you're] a professional athlete honing your performance with a full training staff behind you. So far, no company has been able to deliver this level of support and we feel we have a tremendous opportunity to disrupt and accelerate the development of this market."

The partners did not name a specific date for the launch of the first HTC product running UA Record, but Under Armour executive Robin Thurston promised it would be worth the wait.

"HTC is renowned for its fearless commitment to innovation, coupled with an attention to detail and premium design that makes it the ideal partner for Under Armour and UA Record," Thurston said. "By applying these shared values to our collaboration, we will allow athletes everywhere to take their performance to the next level in a more connected and intuitive way than ever before."
