It seems like this probably should have happened a long time ago, but Foursquare is finally available on the iPad.
The new iPad app comes several months after Foursquare split its service in two, sending check-ins to its new Swarm app and transitioning the main Foursquare app into a straight discovery service.
"Since the new Foursquare came out a few months ago, people have been telling us that they do a lot of their planning on their iPad, and they want a version of Foursquare designed just for it," the Foursquare team wrote in a blog post. "Today, that version is ready."
The new iPad app is the "best way to plan your holiday travels" or just your next weekend getaway, Foursquare said. Simply choose a city, and you'll get a personalized list of places to check out there. When you find a cool place, you can save it to your itinerary with one tap.
The best part is that the new Foursquare learns what you like — whether it's margaritas, used bookstores, vegan food, or whiskey. It then tailors your searches to your tastes, your past ratings, and picks from friends and experts.
There's also a brand new section highlighting all the top picks in your area.
"Using all of Foursquare's data, it suggests places that are newly popular, up-and-coming, and local mainstays," Foursquare said. "It also has suggestions for travel destinations; from must-see sights to hidden gems in most of the largest cities and neighborhoods around the world."
The new Foursquare iPad app is available for download in the App Store now.
