Apple developers are turning (RED) this holiday season: A new section of the App Store now offers 25 applications with exclusive content, the proceeds of which will go directly to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS.

Apple will also donate a portion of its global retail and online sales on two of the biggest shopping days of the year: Friday, November 28 and Monday, December 1.

"Apple is a proud supporter of (RED) because we believe the gift of life is the most important gift anyone can give," CEO Tim Cook said in a statement.

As of September 2013, the Bono-backed organization raised more than $65 million to benefit The Global Fund, which aims to eradicate AIDS and HIV by 2015.

Donations will continue to roll in over the next two weeks, with the help of what Cook called "some of the brightest minds in the App Store."

Through Sunday, Dec. 7, the Apps for (RED) campaign will feature exclusive (RED)-inspired experiences.

"For eight years, our customers have been helping fight AIDS in Africa by funding life-saving treatments which are having a profoundly positive impact," Cook said. "This year we are launching our biggest fundraising push yet with the participation of Apple's retail and online stores."

Those turkey-stuffed consumers lining up at Apple Stores in the U.S. on Friday will receive a special edition (RED) iTunes gift card with the purchase of select products. For each gift card distributed, the company will donate a percentage to the Global Fund. There is no word on which products will be eligible.

Even if you're saving your shopping for Cyber Monday, you can still lend a hand: On Dec. 1, which marks World AIDS Day, Cupertino will donate a portion of every sale at national retail and online shops to the Global Fund.

"Apple isn't just in the fight to end AIDS. They are setting a new bar for business, giving $75 million and counting to the Global Fund as part of their partnership with (RED)," U2 frontman Bono said in a statement. "I couldn't be prouder to work with them."

Since the tech giant launched its first Product (RED) Special Edition iPod in 2006, it continues to offer a handful of (RED) products, including an iPod shuffle, iPod nano, iPod touch, iPhone 4s case, and various iPad covers.
