YouTube has turned more than a few people into household names, and now the company is going to help some of its biggest stars take their videos to the next level.

YouTube on Thursday announced that it will begin footing the bill for new videos from some of its top creators. The move is intended to help its homegrown stars produce high-quality content for their millions of fans on the site.

"As any creator will tell you, making compelling new content isn't easy, and we expect to learn a lot through this process," Alex Carloss, head of YouTube Originals, wrote in a blog post. "We'll experiment with new formats and ideas. We'll get our hands dirty. We'll make some mistakes. Together, we'll (hopefully) create some fantastic new content on YouTube."

This isn't the first time YouTube has invested in its creators. The Google-owned video platform last year opened several high-end video production studios around the world, and more recently launched a full-scale marketing and advertising campaign to help creators like Bethany Mota (currently on this season's Dancing With the Stars) and Epic Rap Battles of History grow their fan bases.

YouTube is also extending these marketing campaigns to places like the U.K., France, Germany, and Brazil, the company said.

"It's been an incredible few years for YouTube," Carloss said. "And with YouTube stars jumping from their bedrooms to billboards in Times Square, we think there's never been a better time to be a creator."

At this point, more than 1 billion viewers visit YouTube every month, and daily watchtime is growing at 50 percent annually.
