Heads up, parents. After first launching in New York City this May, UberFamily is now expanding to Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia.
The new option allows parents and caregivers to get an Uber ride that's equipped with a child's car seat for a $10 surcharge. For peace of mind, Uber has called The Car Seat Lady's Dr. Alisa Baer to train UberX partner drivers on how to safely secure the IMMI Go car seats they're using.
To kick off the service in these new markets, Uber has once again teamed up with Care.com, which will be covering the $10 car seat surcharges from now through Sunday. Uber users can also receive some special perks when they try out the service, including 20 percent off childcare and housekeeping services on Care.com. In addition, the first 500 families in Philadelphia and D.C. to take advantage of UberFamily will also receive free care packages.
The new car seat option is available with Uber's Black Car service in both cities. To access the service, those in D.C. or Philadelphia can select the "UberFamily" icon at the bottom of the Uber home screen.
