Diane von Furstenberg made history in the fall of 2012 when she brought Google Glass to the catwalk. Now she's bringing the runway to Google Glass, with a new line of fashion-inspired frames.

The DVF Made for Glass collection features five new prescription frames and eight sets of sunglasses, on sale June 23 exclusively through online luxury retailer Net-A-Porter and Google.

Designed by the American fashion icon specifically for Glass Explorers, the new frames offer more ways "to make Glass your own," Google said.

Initially available to only those who attended the 2012 Google I/O conference, Google Glass is slowly making its way to more heads: first through a social media contest, then via an invite-only program for friends of existing Explorers. Now, anyone in the U.S. with $1,500 to spare can pick up a set of specs—while supplies last.

According to Elle, DVF-designed prescription frames will come with a $1,725 price tag, while shades are a slightly cheaper $1,620.

Legendary designer von Furstenberg first celebrated Google's augmented reality tech during 2012's New York Fashion Week, equipping her makeup artists, hair stylists, and models with Glass.

The varied footage was then edited into a four-minute behind-the-scenes video—"DVF through Glass" (below) —narrated by von Furstenberg.

"I'm old enough to have danced at Studio 54, and young enough not to have missed the digital revolution," she told Elle in an interview.

Interested buyers can sign up for updates on the DVF Made for Glass collection, set to hit shelves on June 23.

At the same time, Google's original Titanium collection will also be made available via global online retail shop Mr. Porter.

The news comes about two months after Google teamed up with eyewear manufacturer Luxottica Group, which will provide a team of experts to work on future Glass products, specifically developed under its Ray-Ban and Oakley brands. For more, check out If Hollywood Had (Ray-Ban) Google Glass.
