It's that time again. Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) kicks off today with a keynote that's expected to reveal details about the next versions of iOS and Mac OS X.

The event begins at 1 p.m. ET, and Apple will live-stream the keynote. According to the Apple website, you'll need Safari 4 or later on OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later, or a second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later.

If you can't watch, PCMag's Sascha Segan and Joel Santo Domingo are in San Francisco, and will be live-blogging all the action via @PCMagLive (embedded below).

Though there have been rumors about a hardware reveal at WWDC, Apple usually focuses on software at WWDC. This time around, we'll probably hear what's in store for iOS 8, as well as the follow-up to OS X Mavericks. We've also heard rumblings about a software platform that will support smart home devices.

Follow along with all the action beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Until then, though, check out our iOS 8 wish list, as well as what we expect from WWDC 2014. Also see the slideshow above with some early shots from Moscone, and our quick video below.

My Experience

I started out covering tech policy in DC for The National Journal, where my beat included state-level tech news and all the congressional hearings and FCC meetings I could handle. I later covered Wall Street trading tech before switching gears to consumer tech. I now lead PCMag's news coverage.

My Areas of Expertise

Getting my start in DC means I still have a soft spot for tech policy; Congressional hearings can sometimes be as entertaining as a Bravo reality show, for better or worse. But PCMag is all about the technology we use every day, as well as keeping an eye out for the trends that will shape the industry in the years ahead (or flop on arrival). I've covered the rise of social media, the iOS vs. Android wars, the cord-cutting revolution that's now left us with hefty streaming bills, and the effort to stuff artificial intelligence into every product you could imagine. This job has taken me to CES in Vegas (one too many times), IFA in Berlin, and MWC in Barcelona. I also drove a Tesla 1,000 miles out west as part of our Best Mobile Networks project. Of late, my focus is on our hard-working team of reporters at PCMag, guiding and editing their robust coverage.
