Spotify has made good on a promise to revamp its Windows Phone 8 application, this week adding discover and browse options to the service.

Both features—included in last month's overhaul of Spotify for iOS, desktop, and the Web—aim to make it easier to uncover new favorites or find the perfect playlist.

When you're out of listening ideas, or are just so sick of Taylor Swift that you'll throw your phone through a window if you hear another pop-country love song, try Spotify's Discover page.

Based on algorithmic technology, social tools, and curated content from music experts, the service provides personalized recommendations just for you. "Like Lenka and Sara Bareilles? Check out Mindy Gledhill," it might say, with a link to the artist's albums and top tracks.

If you're looking for something more specific—tunes for an exhilarating run, the right music for a dinner party—check out the new Browse function.

"We even have playlists for different moods, so regardless of whether you need an upbeat boost or something more relaxing to wind down to—we've got just the thing," Channtal Fleischfresser, Spotify social marketing manager, wrote in a blog post.

Spotify is also introducing its long-awaited Radio feature, which allows users to create personal stations or choose a pre-made one "and go with the flow," Fleischfresser said.

Plus, a streamlined user interface makes browsing and discovering music even easier.

The update is now available to download for free in the Windows Phone Store. A Spotify Premium subscription is required; sign up for a free 30-day trial before the $9.99 monthly fee kicks in.
