Samsung today unveiled another Galaxy smartphone, aimed toward users with "fast-paced mobile lifestyles who demand more from their phone."

The Galaxy Grand — a sort of mashup of Samsung's flagship Galaxy S III and Note II — runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on its 5-inch screen and supports the manufacturer's Multi Window feature.

Physically, the phone takes many cues from the Galaxy S III, including the rounded corners, centered rear camera and rectangular home button. The Grand, though touted as a "slim, ergonomic" handset, carries a slightly thicker 9.6mm build and a wider and taller stance, to accompany the larger screen.

Its 1.2-GHz dual-core processor supports multitasking, fast Web browsing, and what Samsung called "superior graphics" in applications and games.

Additionally, the 8-megapixel camera snaps photos with zero shutter lag and includes a backside illumination sensor for clear shots even in dark conditions. Plus, it records video in full HD.

For the on-the-go user, the Galaxy Grand's intuitive features, like Direct Call and Smart Alert, make the phone easy to use, Samsung said. Direct Call allows automatic dialing by raising the phone to the user's ear; also, giving it a shake will trigger status updates. Smart Alert, meanwhile, shows missed events — calls, messages, emails — just by picking up the phone.

Samsung's Galaxy Grand will be available in two versions — the dual SIM, which allows users to manage two phone numbers from a single phone, will launch first; the single SIM version will follow. The company, however, did not reveal pricing or release dat information.
