ZTE today announced that its Grand S and Nubia 5 smartphones will be available for pre-order via Amazon and other channels starting Saturday.

The unlocked Grand S is $399.99 while the Nubia 5 is $449.99; both will run on unlocked 3G GSM networks, like AT&T and T-Mobile here in the states.

The ZTE Grand S (below) sports a 5-inch display and 13-megapixel camera. It's powered by Android 4.1 and a quad-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. There's also a 1,780 mAH battery, 16GB storage, and 2GB of RAM.

"For many consumers, technology and design are inseparable," ZTE USA CEO Lixin Cheng said in a statement. "Today's higher-end smartphones must be both physically and emotionally compelling, and the Grand S offers this winning combination of form and function."

Similarly, ZTE's 5-inch candy-bar-shaped Nubia 5 (above) runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean on a 1,080-by-1,920 display, with 16GB of storage. It has a more powerful 2300 mAH battery, as well as a 13-megapixel rear Konica-Minolta camera with auto focus, LED flash, zoom, face detection, and panoramic pictures. There's also a 2-megapixel front-facing cam.

"The launch of the ZTE Nubia 5 builds on our ongoing commitment to the U.S.," Cheng said. "ZTE will be working closely with our customers to make devices like this available in the U.S."

Early this year, ZTE made headlines when it revealed the ZTE Open Firefox OS phone, available in August for U.S. ($79.99) and U.K. (£59.99) buyers. For more, see PCMag's first look at the ZTE Open (previously called ZTE Fire).
