UPDATE: We're back! The liveblog should be working now.

Here we go! Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" event will be starting at 1 p.m. Eastern Time (10 a.m. Pacific) today, and PCMag will be reporting live from Apple's Cupertino campus with all the news. But be sure to be here at 12 noon ET, when PCMag's lead mobile analyst Sascha Segan will kick off a open-mic preview discussion of the iPhone.

As for Apple's plans, all we know for sure is that Apple will use today's event to talk about the iPhone (yep, we got that from the title). Of course, there's been the requisite truckloads of rumors and speculation that accompany an iPhone event, but many reports have led to more questions than answers. (Click here for a detailed breakdown of the expectations).

There will be a new iPhone—that's pretty much guaranteed. What it will be, though, isn't clear. It could be a complete redesign of the current model, with a bigger screen and thinner profile. Or it could be slight upgrade from the current iPhone 4, just with a faster chip and fancier camera. Or it could be both.

Recent reports suggest Sprint will finally be adding the iPhone to its lineup (at tremendous cost to the company), making the phone available to customers of the top three carriers in the U.S. for the first time. There's also a questionable rumor that the iPhone 5 will be exclusive to Sprint, leaving AT&T and Verizon with the marginally upgraded iPhone "4S," whatever that may be. We'll see.

Some are speculating, based on the name of the event and Apple's acquisition of speech-to-text software maker Siri last year, that the new iPhone will have unprecedented voice-recognition technology. Also on deck: a probable refresh of the iPod line with and all-new iPod Touch, more details on iOS 5 and iCloud, and tons of apps.

Finally, there are the reports about the event itself. Apple CEO Tim Cook is the expected ringmaster now that Steve Jobs has been resigned from the company for over a month. There's been some speculation, however, that Jobs may make a surprise appearance, but don't count on it.

Whatever happens, PCMag Editor-in-Chief Dan Costa will be live on the scene with all the details. Make sure to be here 12 starting noon Eastern.
