In the midst of Verizon's 24-hour LTE outage, did anyone notice that Samsung's first 4G LTE smartphone, the Droid Charge, wasn't launched on Thursday as previously advertised?

"We've experienced unexpected delays with the launches but once we have an announcement about the dates we'll let you know." In the customers can go to Verizon stores and put their names down to be contacted once the Charge is available.

Last week we reported that the DDroid Charge, Samsung's first LTE phone was supposed to hit stores on Thursday.

Then on Wednesday, Verizon acknowledged that its four-month-old 4G LTE network was down, preventing any new LTE device activations. The network was officially restored on Thursday, according to Verizon, but we are eagerly waiting for an explanation to the sudden, nationwide outage.

Mark Raby of TGDaily reported Friday that the Droid Charge will launch on May 3. However Verizon would not confirm any specific date.

The Samsung Droid Charge runs on Android 2.2 "Froyo" and a 1GHz processor, and features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with LED flash, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for photos and video chatting. The Droid Charge's Web browser will support Adobe Flash and come loaded with Samsung Media Hub, which features movies and TV shows to rent or buy.

The smartphone is one ten 4G LTE devices Verizon announced at CES in January.

Editor's note: This story was corrected at 12:30pm ET. The HTC Droid Incredible 2 hit Verizon online stores on Thursday, as planned. We apologize for the error.
