Samsung has thrown its hat in the market for Google TV, the company said on Friday.

Samsung said it would release two devices: a companion box (in the vein of the Logitech Revue) and a Blu-ray player. Both will support Google TV, the service from Google.

Samsung did not release pricing for the new devices, saying only that they would be sold into retail during the first half of 2011.

Samsung also said that it was designing a custom controller for the box, as Sony has with its Google TV devices.

Google has had its share of problems with the Google TV products, including reports that it has asked OEMs to delay Google TV products until the company develops a new version of the software. But a Logitech representative on Thursday night denied that Logitech has halted shipments of its Logitech Revue, an allegation levied by DigiTimes. Samsung's support for Google TV was predicted by The New York Times.
