Topping tech headlines on Monday, Oculus VR revealed plans to bring its technology to 1 billion users, rather than a few million.

When Facebook announced plans to acquire Oculus VR for $2 billion, some fans of the virtual reality firm accused it of selling out. But CEO Brendan Iribe told TechCrunch Disrupt that the move will allow it to expand more rapidly and potentially bring its technology to 1 billion users rather than a few million.

His comments came after Oculus VR reiterated that its CTO, John Carmack, did not steal any intellectual property from his former employer, ZeniMax Media, and bring it to Oculus.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials have reportedly banned the use of messaging service WhatsApp, citing the Jewish heritage of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of WhatsApp owner Facebook. Abdolsamad Khorramabadi, secretary of the Committee for Determining Criminal Web Content, said the reason for the change is "the adoption of WhatsApp by the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who is an American Zionist."

In other news, Google Play has finally launched in Canada. The service gives you an all-access pass to 25 million songs from all the major record companies, as well as local and independent labels. With Play Music, you can create an ad-free, interactive radio station from any song or artist, browse recommendations from Google's "expert music team," or explore songs by genre.
