Grouponicus

Are all your holiday gift ideas gift certificates?

Groupon has launched a holiday pop-up store, Grouponicus, featuring online deals tailored for holiday gifting.

Grouponicus opens tomorrow featuring mostly experiential deals at 50-90 percent off, and will add a deal every day for the next five weeks (totaling 650 deals). Unlike normal Groupon deals which go off market in 24 hours, Grouponicus offers will be available for three to five days. Furthermore, the site will preview upcoming gifts.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Groupon CEO Andrew Mason said the company would bring back "favorite deals" to Grouponicus.

In New York, for instance, gifts launching tomorrow include a $5 digital download of Rihanna's LOUD album (valued at $9.99) and a 21-hour poker course from School of Cards for $249 (original price $499).

Groupon, a coupon site with more than 20 million members, is believed to be worth $3 billion.
