In response to Google banning Facebook users from automatically importing Google contacts, Facebook has found a loophole to bypass the new restriction.

Last week, Google amended its Contacts API to require other platforms to reciprocate Google's philosophy of open data exchange. This affected Facebook the most, as Facebook doesn't allow other platform users to import their Facebook contacts automatically as Google does. You can't, for instance, search and invite your Facebook contacts onto Twitter with a single click (it takes three).

In response, Facebook has posted a link in its 'Find Friends' tab where users can download their Google contacts onto their hard drives and import them into Facebook in a single click, according to TechCrunch.

"It's also a big middle finger to Google," TechCrunch writes.

Apparently this wasn't the response Google was hoping for when it amended its terms.

"We're disappointed that Facebook didn't invest their time in making it possible for their users to get their contacts out of Facebook," said a Google spokesman. "As passionate believers that people should be able to control the data they create, we will continue to allow our users to export their Google contacts."

Facebook did not respond to a request for comment.
