Peel Universal Control

With Peel, your iPod touch or iPhone becomes the hub of all your living room content.

The Peel app is in constant contact with the Fruit, which has the IR blaster necessary to control your TV and devices.

The Fruit is somewhat odd-looking, and you'll likely have to place it in a conspicuous place, but it's certainly better than having 40 remotes on your coffee table.

The Peel hardware consists of the Peel Cable, the Fruit, and a C battery for the fruit.

The Fruit takes a C battery, which Peel says will last a long time.

The Peel box is quite attractive, and very Apple-looking.

If you don't have the Peel hardware, you can still use the Peel app to get show recommendations and find out what's on TV.

The Peel Cable plugs directly into your Wi-Fi router, making it easy to set up; you won't need WAP passwords, IP addresses, or anything like that.

Figuring out your cable company and box is important, and it's one of the longer parts of the Peel setup process—it has to make sure that its channel lists are correct.

When you add a new device, Peel flips through your TV's inputs to find where the new device is connected. When you hit the right input, tap "done" and Peel knows where to find it.

In the app's settings, you can control the shows you mark as favorites, the ones you ask to not be shown again, and more.

The Peel Control can control most of your devices, from TVs and Blu-ray players to set-top boxes.

The Peel app is also a universal remote control, turning your iPod touch or iPhone into a basic controller for whatever device you're using.

There are three sections for finding content in the Peel app: TV Shows, Movies, and Sports.

Peel makes recommendations for content that you should watch based on a variety of features, from what you watch to what other people with similar tastes watch.

The more you watch TV, the better Peel will get to know your tastes, and the better it can recommend and find new content.

You can choose what time to look for TV shows, which is nice for planning ahead to see what's on later.

Searching for a show gives you results about when the show is on, and what channel. Tap a result, and you'll go straight to the show.
