Pros & Cons

These two programs from Knowledge Adventure provide effective after-school practice for kids in grades 1 through 5 who need help with math or spelling.

In Spelling Bee, kids capture fish and other sea creatures bearing the correct words, letters, and letter combinations they need to complete challenges. In Math Booster, they use lasers to smash the correct answers in outer space and play a high-tech game of pinball to complete equations. Both programs work on the flash-card principle, giving kids rapid-fire drills to complete. Each title includes three games with multiple levels, along with an editor that lets you customize the games--a wonderful tool.
