Joyetech's eCom electronic cigarette tank system is held in high regard by many in the vaping community, and with good reason. It's arguably the most high-tech and sophisticated electronic vaping device on the market. eCom allows users granular control over their vaping experience with adjustments for voltage and air intake. Additionally, filling the atomizer with Joyetech's e-juice (the liquid that contain nicotine and or flavorings to make the vapor) is wonderfully easy and not as messy as with some systems I've tested.
Just because this is a high-tech vaping device does not mean it's a difficult e-cig with which to get up and running. The only minuses for me was a bit of trickiness adjusting the airflow settings and a hard time getting the mouthpiece off the battery with one of my test devices. Also, the eCom is not quite as stylish as some other competing tank systems—it looks almost as if you are vaping on a magic marker! Halo's Triton Tank system is much more stylish. Yet, it's easy to see why eCom is the electronic cigarette of choice for many. The one glaring issue for me, is an extremely off-putting taste to one of the e-juice flavors.
eCom Specs
This is the e-cigarette for geeky, gadget-lovers. eCom kits are sold as single packs or double packs. The single pack includes a lithium battery, which you can order in 650 mAh ($69.90) or 1000 mAh ($74.90) units. The higher milliampere hour rating means a battery with a longer charge, for those who don't speak electronics. An eCom double-pack kit comes with both batteries.
The kit also has: two mouthpieces, a USB cable, a USB port cover, an atomizer tube, a wall adapter, a mouthpiece connector, two atomizer C2 heads, a specialized tool (for adjusting the air inlet settings and replacing the atomizer head), a power supply, a mouthpiece case, and—finally—a well-documented user manual.
The unit ships pre-assembled, so the mouthpiece, atomizer, and battery are already put together. All you need to do is fill it up with e-juice.
As mentioned, this device operates in two modes: VV which delivers 3.3-4.8 voltage and VW which operates the device at 4.5W-9.6 wattage. You can adjust the wattage and voltage manually by turning a ring at the bottom of the device to the setting you want. Modes are switched by pressing a button on the e-cig (also the same button you hold down to vape). This button also powers the device on and off. With the e-cig off, you hold the button down for 1.5 seconds to switch modes. It can be a bit tricky at first to switch between modes and takes a little practice.
eCom is made with a brushed metal, so the device has a bit of weight to it. With all of the pieces put together, it weighs .12 of a pound and measures 6.75 inches (with the smaller battery attached). The device is available in black and silver (by far, the more attractive option).
Most of the e-cigs I've tested have batteries that screw into a USB charger. The eCom has a USB port built right on it.
Final Thoughts
Joyetech eCom
eCom is the ultimate geek's electronic cigarette possibly providing the best control over your vaping experience than just about any competitor out there. Aside from the off-putting tobacco flavor and a couple of quirks with the device's design, this is a great e-cig tank system.
