For some, books aren't a hobby, they're a religion—one which regularly practicing readers know comes with a hefty price tag.

In an attempt to minimize the impact on your bank account, Goodreads this week launched a new bargain service. Goodreads Deals are selected specifically for you, based on individual profiles and your digital Want to Read shelf.

"If there's an exceptional ebook deal … we'll let you know," the company blog said. "And, if one of the authors you follow has a not-to-be-missed promotion on an ebook, we'll make sure you don't miss out."

Available exclusively to US users, personalized daily deals are formed from books and writers in which you've shown interest. So, the more titles in your to-read list and the more authors you follow, the more likely it is you'll find a deal for an ebook you're keen on. As long as it fits into one of the following genres: best sellers, romance, mystery and thrillers, and fantasy and science fiction. Goodreads hopes to add more categories in the future.

Some initial deals included popular stories like Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell (for $1.99), American Gods by Neil Gaiman ($2.99), Misery by Stephen King ($1.99), and The Pact by Karina Halle ($0.99).

To get the most out of the promotional service, make sure your settings include links to purchase from the Kindle Store, Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble Nook, Google Play, and Kobo stores.

Founded in 2007, Goodreads was acquired by Amazon in 2013.
