SafetyWeb, Inc. is best known for their SafetyWeb ($100 direct, 4 stars) reputation protection service, which lets parents view all publicly available information about their children and work with the children to enhance online privacy. With their recent acquisition of iHound Mobile, SafetyWeb can now offer the mobile protection of iHound Mobile Phone and Family Tracker ($3.99/year) for iPhone, iPad, and Android.

The iHound app lets users locate family members using the mobile device's GPS. Parents can also configure it for "geo-fencing", a feature that ensures children stay where they're supposed to be. If the app detects that child is not at school during school hours, for example, it will send an alert.

The app also helps deal with lost or stolen mobile devices. The owner can request location information for a lost device or remotely message with its finder. In the worst case, if the device is stolen or irretrievably lost, iHound can lock and erase personal information. The company quotes a teenage user as saying "I'd rather lose my wallet than my mobile phone."

SafetyWeb co-Founder Geoffrey Arone observed "For decades, security has focused on protecting computers, but now it must protect people, who connect to the Web from a variety of devices." Co-founder Michael Clark added, "We recognized the growing need to protect people and the data connected to them… We are providing people with real-time protection at anytime from any device."
