Larklife introduces a unique and simplified app experience to the recent fitness-tracking craze, but its clunky wristband and high price hold it back. Better and less expensive gadgets abound.

Larklife Fitness Band

Larklife ($149.99, direct) is a fitness band that tracks how much activity you get every day, as well as your sleep and other habits.

Larklife : What's in the Box?

Inside the box, you'll find all the components shows above. The core fits into both the day band and the night band, which is used for tracking your sleep.

Larklife iPhone App

The fitness band syncs your data to an iPhone app, where you can see charts of your activity and other data. You can also set goals, such as lose weight or sleep more.

Larklife Silent Alarm

Larklife includes a silent alarm feature, which causes the band to vibrate to wake you at whatever time you set.

Larklife iPhone App

The iPhone app has a couple of interesting ways to record data. If it detects a lot of motion, it wil log a workout automatically. You can also double-tap a button on the wristband to indicate you've eaten at that time, and the app will create an entry for a meal at that hour the next time the band syncs with the iPhone.

Larklife Profile

The Larklife app contains personal profile information, as you'd expect, to help it estimate how many calories you burn.
