The iOS app replaces the remote, allowing basic control of the Sound Platform via Bluetooth and letting you quickly create playlists to play on the Sound Platform.

At 4.4 pounds and requiring the included AC adapter to work (there's no battery power of any kind), it's not designed to be a portable device, but it's not terribly hard to move around.
