A Blu-ray optical drive packing a write speed of 12X on Blu-ray discs, the Asus Black BW-12B1LT ($89.99 list) offers HD video as well as 3D support among other features. The drive also sports a Blu-ray disc access time of 250 milliseconds, LightScribe support and more.

Design and Features
Asus designed the Black BW-12B1LT with a sleek, glossy black face. Nothing more than the Asus and Blu-ray logos adorn its face, so as not to detract from the design. This optical drive sports a SATA connection and measures 1.6x6.7x5.7 inches (WxDxH).

The Black BW-12B1LT runs at a numerous amount of speeds, but reads most Blu-ray discs at 8X, while reading BD-RE(DL) at 6X speed. The drive sports an 8MB data buffer, and an access time of 150 milliseconds for both CDs and DVDs. Asus also threw in support for both Dolby Digital EX and DT5 HD audio for 5.1 channel speakers.

In addition to 3D support, the BW-12B1LT can also convert DVD media to 3D through a single click. And with Optimal Tuning Strategy, this drive can perform burning tests before actually burning to determine media and drive variations as well as operating temperature. The BW-12B1LT supports Windows 7, Vista and XP operating systems.
