Eager to get your hands on a new Steam Machine? You're going to have to practice your patience.
In a Tuesday post on the Steam Universe forum, Valve Software announced that Steam Machines have been pushed back to "a release window of 2015, not 2014." The company said it is now in the process of testing its wireless controller with "everyone from industry professionals to die-hard gamers to casual gamers," and it's taking longer than expected.
"It's generating a ton of useful feedback, and it means we'll be able to make the controller a lot better," wrote Valve's Eric Hope. "Of course, it's also keeping us pretty busy making all those improvements."
"Obviously we're just as eager as you are to get a Steam Machine in your hands," Hope wrote. "But our number one priority is making sure that when you do, you'll be getting the best gaming experience possible. We hope you'll be patient with us while we get there."
First unveiled in September, Steam Machines are open-source gaming PCs that will run Valve's SteamOS. Though Valve produced 300 prototype devices for testing purposes, the machines that will actually hit the market will be produced by third-party manufacturers.

The announcement comes several days after Valve launched the Steam In-Home Streaming service after an extended beta testing period.
