The long-awaited Tesla Model 3 will finally be unveiled on March 31.

Tesla announced the news on Twitter last night, saying it will showcase its latest car in just over two weeks. Details are scant, but the event will reportedly take place in LA at Tesla's Hawthorne design studio.

The Model 3 is expected to be an affordable version of Tesla's electric car. It currently sells the Model S and the Model X all-electric cars, which can cost upwards of $100,000 with all the bells and whistles, putting them out of the price range for many consumers.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that the Model 3 could cost as little as $35,000 before tax breaks, making it an exceedingly appealing option for those who want electric cars but don't want to spend too much money.

But while Tesla will provide details about the Model 3 this month, the EV—which boasts a range of more than 200 miles on a single charge—probably won't officially arrive until 2017. The car can't go into production until Tesla's Nevada Gigafactory is up and running.

Tesla's last big reveal was for its pricey Model X SUV in November. Pricing starts at $80,000, but those with the high-end Signature Series model pay $132,000.
