Pros & Cons

The PC has evolved into a home media appliance, and the Belkin MediaPilot keeps up with the times. You can use it on the desktop or remotely, and it can control not just your computer but your stereo, TV, and DVD player, too. The keyboard sits on a wired base station that powers the rechargeable batteries. Remove the MediaPilot, and you can work up to 30 feet away. Use the included software to set the keyboard to control your other audio and video equipment, and you can run your entire entertainment center from your couch. We like the MediaPilot for remote use but find it uncomfortable on the desktop. For one thing, the hard plastic wrist rest doesn't attach to the base station, so it doesn't stay in place.
