Pros & Cons

Company:
ATI Technologies Inc., www.ati.com
Price:
$249 Direct
Requires:
1-GHz CPU or better, 128MB RAM, 2GB of hard drive space per hour of recorded video, Microsoft Windows 98 or later

Pros:
Combines video, TV, and DVR capabilities into a single card. Software has impressive features.
Cons:
No control over tuner boxes.
Bottom line:
For those who want DVR capabilities along with a solid midrange graphics card, this is a good choice.

Review:
If you're in the market for a good video card anyway, you might want to consider the ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 Pro (AIW). It's a solid midrange graphics adapter and TV tuner/DVR in one, and gee-whiz features abound in the AIW software. For example, you can capture closed-captioning streams as searchable text files or have the software alert you if a keyword pops up in a live feed. You can also have live TV as your PC's wallpaper while you work in the foreground. If you want basic TV capabilities and don't need to control a tuner box, the AIW should suit you well.
