Twitter's live-streaming app Periscope this week added a map view so users can find a video stream from a specific location.

Thursday's iOS update lets iPhone users tap the "Global" section to explore live broadcasts via an interactive map. You can now watch the most recent broadcasts from around the world — and maybe even get inspired for your next vacation.

"When we started building Periscope, our first idea revolved around a map," the company wrote in a blog post. "We wanted to be able to see anywhere in the world."

But unsure of the new app's audience, or whether it would garner enough broadcasts for a compelling map, the team shelved the idea, promising to revisit it "when it made more sense." With thousands of people sharing live streams around the globe, that time is now.

Besides the new Global section, this week's iOS-specific update also brings instantly accessible replays and the ability to share links to Twitter. It also comes with support for 29 languages, including English, Polish, Spanish, Swedish, French, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese.

Twitter first unveiled Periscope in March to compete with the surprise hit Meerkat. The service lets you stream live video from your phone to the rest of the Internet, and save and replay live streams, giving videos a shelf-life that Meerkat doesn't provide.

Initially available only for iPhone, Periscope last month launched on Android 4.4 KitKat and above. Like the iOS version, those on Android can start a public or private broadcast, choose to allow comments only from followers, and chat or send hearts to a broadcaster.
