The AMD Athlon II X4 640 ($99.99 list) is a 3.0GHz, quad-core processor with support for 64-bit computing and virtualization, and includes both a heatsink and fan among other features. The chip also sports an integrated DDR memory controller, a 2MB dedicated L2 cache and more.

Design and Features
The processor was designed by AMD with 4,000MHz hyper transports and to work with 95W from a connected power supply. The Athlon II X4 640 was built using 45-nanometer manufacturing technology, and is capable of simultaneous 32-bit and 64-bit computing.

This AMD chip supports memory running up to 1,333MHz and up to 21.3GB/s of DDR3 memory bandwidth. Each AMD processor comes with a three-year limited warranty and an AMD case sticker. AMD Athlon II chips are optimized for Windows 7, and are Energy Star compliant.
